The research focuses on synchromodality, where a novel transportation approach in which shippers and logistics companies work together to find the optimum transport mode based on synchronizing real-time information and taking advantage of the new digital paradigms. Synchromodal contexts are driven by visibility, flexibility, integration, and operating systems. The research empirically assesses the existing trade-offs between efficiency and resilience in synchromodal supply chains. The empirical research is based on 157 logistics companies with global coverage working in the FMCG business, combined with secondary financial data. Based on structural equation modeling and cluster analysis, the patterns of efficiency-resilience and the different synchromodal SCs were evaluated.
